Here are some at home hair remedies that will give your hair the much needed TLC it deeply craves and will resuscitate dry dull hair to silky smoothness to the touch! All within the convenience of your kitchen; ditching that overpriced hair salon appointment or severely chemical induced hair masks! Be sure to comment down below of your favorite go-to DIY hair masks this summer!

Here are some quick tips before we get started...

  • Start by having a few days in between your next hair wash, if possible! Its very important that you are not constantly stripping your hair of its natural oils! By doing this you allow your hair to naturally moisturize and help eliminate overproduction of oils, leaving your hair silky and less prone to oily hair!

  • I know there are going to be days where you're rushing out the door and desperately in need of that hairdryer, but if you must dry your hair, I recommend using it on cool/cold, one of my best and favorite secret weapon I use against time, the less heat damage, the better! • Always, always use some sort of heat protectant when using your heat tools! You want to prevent as much heat damage as possible! And if you find yourself wondering why your hair seems to never grow, head on over to, 10 Weird Ways To Grow Your Hair Out Fast! tips and tricks that really work!

Taming The Beast aka, Frizz!

For those annoying summer days where your hair is just on a whole other level of beast mode and nowhere near tamable, here's how you can remedy this! These 3 together are so amazingly moisturizing, honey is packed with vitamins and minerals, locking , penetrating deep within and sealing your dry hair strands. Yogurt is loaded with multi-vitamins and is great for your scalp without making it dry or dull. Almond oil smells amazing! Rich in magnesium, great for those who are prone to a lot of hair fall out, improving overall hair quality! What you'll need:
  • 1 tablespoon of Raw Honey
  • 1 tablespoon of Yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of Almond Oil, adjust amount to your hair length

Start by mixing the concoction until blended completely and thoroughly now begin to apply onto slightly damp hair you can go ahead and spritz the hair with a spray bottle, this will make it much easier to apply and allow your hair follicles to "open" rather than starting off with completely dry hair, massage the mixture into your hair from root to tip, evenly coating every strand. Wrap your up or cover it to trap in the heat to let it really soak into your hair and scalp, again you can choose to leave the mask on for as long as you'd like I opt for the longest I can, shampoo and rinse thoroughly.

The I-Don't-Feel-Like-It Hair Mask

This little beauty only requires one ingredient! Guess what it is!?.....just guess......Its coconut oil! The wonders of Coconut Oil never ceases to amaze me, an overall powerhouse with antioxidants and vitamins. Protecting your hair from split ends and reversing hair damage, you'll wonder how you could ever go on without it! All you'll be needing today:

  • 1-2 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

If you know me at all you'll know that I'm about as crazy for coconut oil as I am for chocolate! Nothing beats chocolate though..lol but this is a wonderful remedy for those days where you want to get a hair mask in without the added fuss of prepping for one! So simple, you'll opt for this mask more often than not! Depending if you live in a warmer climate, your coconut oil will be in a liquid form, anything below 75 degrees and it will be in a solid state, where you'd have to warm it up in the microwave. Unless you have some really dry thirsty hair, you can also choose to keep the oil in while you sleep, just wash off and shampoo in the morning as usual.

Fried-Hair-Fixer-Upper

Rather than making this for breakfast, fight the urge of hunger and whip up this hair mask, eggs being rich in protein, vitamins and healthy fats, will result in strengthening hair follicles and roots. Perfect for rescuing dry hair from the verge of breakage and back to its shiny lustrous state! Olive oil is one of the best when it comes to nourishing and moisturizing, rich in vitamin E aiding in hydration preventing breakage! This hair mask calls for olive oil & eggs!... what you'll need:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Blend the egg until you get a smooth frothy consistency. Next you'll want to whisk in the olive oil, make sure to mix it well. Once that's all blended together you'll want to start applying the mixture into your hair, I prefer my hair to be slightly damp its just easier to deal with, starting from root to tip. Give yourself a mini scalp massage, nothing too crazy you want to be gentle with circular motions for a few minutes. Make sure to cover your with a shower cap, towel, plastic bag, etc. If your schedule allows it, you can leave this hair mask on anywhere from 10 mins-2 hours. The longer you leave it in, the better the mask can penetrate through your hair and scalp. Shampoo and condition as normal, and voila, you're done!

It's All In The Scalp

When it comes to dry brittle hair we should always focus on the source, the scalp! Here is where most of our underlying hair problems will usually begin, and if you pay close attention you can prevent and reverse hair damage! How can not include Castor Oil?! Effective against dry skin, a great natural moisturizer to really help restore that needed hydration to hair and skin. Besides Papaya's amazing taste, its loaded with enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. When used in a mask it acts as an exfoliate; removing dead skin and product build up while adding volume and softening hair.  Dry itchy scalp can be quite the pain to deal with, to remedy this what you'll be needing:

  • 1 tablespoon of Castor Oil
  • Handful of mashed Papaya

Start by mashing up the papaya without the seeds, pour into a blender, next mix in the castor oil, combine the two together and blend them well. After a few minutes you should see a paste consistency. Start by applying the paste from root to tip, make sure to give your scalp a mini massage to help stimulate the hair follicles this will increase blood circulation and will promote hair growth as well. Its best to leave in any hair mask on for as long as possible, if your schedule allows it. Wrap your hair up in a shower cap or plastic bag and then with a towel. Shampoo and condition as normally.
